Turmeric, also known as "Curcuma" is a plant that is a member of the Ginger Family. The underground stem of the plant is dried and then crushed and then voila, you have Turmeric! Originating over 4000 years ago in India, it was often used in cooking but it would also be used as medicine! They would burn it and inhale the smoke as a decongestant, use the juice to help heal wounds, and use it in a paste form for all sorts of skin conditions. Turmeric would also be used in all of the religious ceremonies. It is now grown all over the tropics and is called by many names. In addition to being healthy, Turmeric, is also a tool for magic. Witches use it to repel malevolent spirits, but also for spells involving abundance, happiness, fertility, prosperity, purity, and spiritual connection to the Earth.
