Star Anise, also known as "Stars of Anise", is a member of the Schisandraceae family and is actually the seed pod from an evergreen that originally grew in southern China and northeast Vietnam. It is now grown all over east and southeast Asia. It was used in ancient China to help soothe stomach aches and eaten after meals to help with digestion. In Witchcraft, it is used by many to repel negative energy, bring in good luck, Moon-based divinations, and awakening psychic abilities. It is said that if you find a star with more than eight points, it will ward off the evil eye!
