Hawthorn, also known as "May Tree", is a member of the Rosaceae family like raspberries and wild roses. Originating from Europe, this tree likes to grow in well-drained moist soil with lots of sun! Hawthorn leaves, flowers and berries have been used for making heart tonics as early as first century Rome. They would also used the trees for making Maypoles as the flowers typically bloom around may 1st! Hawthorne flowers and leaves are used today medicinally for controlling high blood pressure and to help protect against heart disease. Witches use it for its health benefits but also for its magical properties including, love, marriage, fertility and communing with the Fae!
