Elderberry, also known as "Medicine Chest of the People," is a member of the Moschatel plant family. Growing naturally in moist soil, the bush can be found in thickets, woodlands, along river and stream banks. Elderberry has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. Native to Europe, in ancient Greece they used Elderberries as medicine to treat the common cold as well as influenza. Today we use Elderberries in much the same way that ancients did. Since the fruit is so high in anti-oxidants and vitamins, it is a great immune system boost! Elderberries are also good for leg and back pain, while also alleviating sinus pain.
Witches use the berry not just for its health benefits but for its many magickal properties; protection, healing, Fae, purification, intuition and breaking curses
